Why we use Biolefin Biodegradeable Shrink Wrap Film
What we use is Biodegradeable Biolefin from the National Shrinkwrap System for wrapping soaps and many of our other products. The company says it is both biodegradable and compostable, with all the beneficial properties of their standard polyolefin, made from a modified standard polyolefin plastic that contains mineral salt additives, allowing it to absorb moisture and biodegrade in landfills within 2-3 years when exposed to oxygen and microorganisms, essentially breaking down into biomass without leaving plastic particles behind; considered a more environmentally friendly packaging option compared to traditional plastic shrink wrap. We think this is a very good thing!
